The long awaited recognition of the best music videos in the country, MTV Pilipinas Music Video
Awards, finally took place on August 14, 2006 at the Pagcor Grand Theater in Casino Filipino,
Paranaque City. Several bands and solo artists graced the exciting event, which was further boosted
by the presence of Xtreme Magic Sing, the international version of videoke microphones endorsed by
no less than Manny Pacquiao. Among the numerous award categories was “The Most Popular Karaoke Song” presented by Xtreme Magic Sing. The renowned band Parokya ni Edgar bagged the award with
their hit song “Mr. Suave.” Other nominees for the said category were Hale for “The Day You Said
Goodbye,” Sugarfree for “Hari ng Sablay,” MYMP for “A Little Bit,” and Sarah Geronimo for “Forever is Not Enough.”
Chito Miranda, the lead vocalist of Parokya ni Edgar, received the award and the prize which was an
Xtreme Magic Sing microphone, along with his other band mates. His speech was a simple one-liner: “Thank you Xtreme Magic Sing, this is my favorite hobby!”
